RF Davies & Son is a family-run building business based in Dorset, serving Poole, Bournemouth, Ringwood and the surrounding areas. We are the “controller” of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how it is used and are responsible for looking after it.

We only collect what we need. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include the following.

The form also includes a hidden field that helps us catch spam robots; people don’t see or fill it in. When you send the form, our website host may also record technical details, such as the date and time, your IP address and your browser type, to deliver your message and filter out spam.
If you phone, text or email us, we keep the details you give us, such as your name, phone number, email address, the address of the property and a description of the work, along with any photos, drawings or plans you send.
To quote for and carry out a job, we record your name and contact details, the property address, notes, measurements and photos of the work area, your quote, any changes you agree, invoices, payments and our correspondence with you. We may also take photos of the work as it progresses and when it is finished, for our records.
Sometimes we receive your details from someone else, such as an architect, structural engineer, landlord, letting agent or family member who asks us to quote for work at your property. We only use those details to deal with that job.
Our website shows reviews that customers have published on an online review platform. We show the reviewer’s username, town and the date of the review, not their full name. If you leave a review on a review platform, that platform handles your information under its own privacy policy.
When you visit our website, our hosting provider automatically receives the technical information your browser sends, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the date and time. Your browser also downloads our typeface from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. See Cookies below.
Data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) says we need a lawful basis for each way we use your information. Here is what we do and the basis we rely on:

Copies of enquiries held in our website host’s form system are deleted in line with these periods. We may keep information for longer if we need to, for example while a complaint or claim is ongoing. When we no longer need information, we delete it securely.

We need your name and a way to contact you to reply to you, and details of the property and the work to quote for it or carry it out. On our enquiry form, the fields marked with an asterisk are required and the others are optional.
Our website and services are aimed at adults. They are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We take appropriate steps to protect your information, such as limiting who can access it and using reputable service providers. Our website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No way of sending or storing information is completely secure, so please don’t send us bank details or other sensitive information by email.
